Introduced in 1983 as a bridge between the Ocean 42 and 50 Super Sport models, the 46 Super Sport is a traditional Jersey-style canyon runner with a long foredeck, a relatively flat bottom and a large cockpit. For a fishing boat, the interior was considered lush by 1980s standards with a blend of varnished teak joinery, comfortable furnishings and decorator fabrics. While a conventional two-stateroom layout with the galley down was available, a three-stateroom floorplan with a mid-level galley is an unusual find in a 46-footer. (Most three-stateroom floorplans are reserved for 50-footers and up.) Outside, the roomy cockpit includes a livewell, helm controls, transom gate, tackle locker and freezer. Note that most 46 Super Sports were sold with the optional factory hardtop. Additional features included a bow pulpit, central vacuum system, wide side decks, and flybridge seating for six. A fast boat, the 46 SS cruises at 25 knots and reachs a top speed 30 knots with standard 450hp 6-71s.With over 160 built, the 46 SS was one of Ocean’s best-selling models ever.
